Georgia restaurant declares new ‘No vax, no service’ policy after breakthrough infection outbreak
2 min readDespite one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, one Atlanta restaurant owner is only serving fully vaccinated customers.
One of the first states to partially reopen, Georgia allowed restaurants to resume dine-in service on April 27, 2020, under a strict set of 39 safety requirements.
But Armando Celentano, co-owner of Argosy Restaurant and Bar, says he will not serve customers who are not fully vaccinated. The restaurant, which has a 4 out of 5 rating on Yelp and more than 450 independent reviews, was given a Health Score of 90 out of 100.

The sign featured on his business’ instagram says “No Vax, No Service.”
“It is a question of quality of life and safety for my staff and guests,” Celentano told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “It’s a privately owned, small business and I have to do what I think is right to protect the people who rely on me to make a living.”
Customers are asked to bring their vaccination card, or a picture of it, to the restaurant in order to be served.

Just 38 percent of people in Georgia are fully vaccinated, according to the The New York Times vaccination tracker. Argosy’s 36 employees have been vaccinated, and yet some members of his staff have since tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, about 12 percent of new COVID-19 infections in Georgia are the delta variant. As The Hill previously reported, although vaccinated people are not completely immune and face the risk of being infected with COVID-19, two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine are 88 percent effective against the delta variant.
