Crumb & Spigot: 16783 Chillicothe Rd

While far from spacious, this posh suburban pub percolates with energy thanks to an open kitchen and bustling bar. The interior features spring-green wainscoting, plaid-swaddled banquettes, and outsized mirrors. In terms of food, diners can expect approachable from-scratch fare that ranges from well-crafted pizzas and vegan-friendly sandwiches to hearty pastas and grilled steaks.

Hunan by the Falls: 508 Washington St

Asian food fans can’t imagine Chagrin Falls without Hunan, the area’s go-to Chinese eatery for nearly 30 years. The kitchen places a gourmet touch on both familiar and creative Chinese and Thai dishes, with extra attention seemingly devoted to seafood items. From wonton soup and spring rolls to walnut chicken and Lake Tung Ting shrimp, every base is covered.

Washington Street Diner: 8233 E Washington St #4507

From its off-the-beaten-path home in a nondescript strip mall, this beloved breakfast and lunch diner has been quietly serving a loyal crowd for many years. Breakfast is served all day and features the usual suspects plus killer corned beef hash, over-stuffed omelets, and a well-built breakfast sandwich. Lunchtime items include fresh salads, wraps, pitas, patty melts, and burgers.

Lemon Falls: 95 N Main Street

On the day that Lemon Falls opened, Chagrin Falls got a wee bit brighter. Pretty and petite, this gourmet market is the place to go for your morning java, but also grab-and-go items like muffins, scones, and avocado toast. Larger plates like fried egg sandwiches and poached eggs with prosciutto also are available. Come lunchtime, deli sandwiches get stuffed with chicken salad, tuna salad, and turkey breast.

Paris Room: 7 N Franklin St

The Paris Room is a petit sliver of Paris in the heart of Chagrin Falls. This subterranean bistro offers an authentic taste of France in the form of dishes like pissaladière, escargot, salad Niçoise, and chicken-stuffed crepes. All of those exquisite items are matched by great cocktails, wine, and desserts. When live musicians take the stage, the experience becomes all the richer.

Social distancing was not kind to Umami, a village favorite with only 28 seats in the best of times. But survive it did thanks to an exciting menu that traffics in seafood-rich Asian-fusion dishes. Ultra-fresh fish appears on the menu in the form of sashimi, sushi rolls, poke, and entrees. Meat-eaters aren’t ignored thanks to noodle and stir-fry dishes starring chicken, beef and pork.

Check out their fresh fish offerings, here.

17 River Grille: 17 River Street

This latest restaurant from Rick Doody boasts incomparable views inside and out. The former Jekyll’s space overlooking the namesake falls has been totally updated to best take advantage of the epic setting. On the plate, classic grill dishes like lobster bisque, beef carpaccio, wedge salads, cedar-plank salmon, and steak frites compete with the views for attention.

Flip Side: 44 N Main St

Flip Side burst onto the scene at a time when many well-regarded chefs, both locally and nationally, were launching gourmet burger bars. Chef Shawn Monday nailed the concept, serving pitch-perfect grass-fed burgers in numerous makes and trims. Those delectable beef bombs are joined by exceptional fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and craft beer.

M Italian: 22 W Orange Street

This stylish yet casual eatery elevates Italian fare thanks to a dramatic warehouse setting anchored by an open kitchen and wood-fired oven. The crew nails starters like meatballs and sauce, calamari, and fennel-scented mussels, but also larger plates of pasta, chicken parm, and grilled steak. But no meal here is complete without one of those dreamy thin-crust pies.

Village Martini Wine bar: 516 E Washington St

Cruising past its 10th year, this agreeable neighborhood wine bar combines one of the most approachable wine lists around with a gratifying menu of Italian and American chestnuts. The focus is on fresh when it comes to bountiful wedge, Caesar, and steak-capped salads. Flatbreads, burgers, and pub-style fish and chips platters are joined by crab cakes, seafood pastas, and grilled chops.
