Asian Best restaurant creates GoFundMe page to recover financially
2 min readAfter Asian Best Chinese and Thai Cuisine Restaurant in York closed following an attempted robbery Tuesday, a GoFundMe page was started to offset the owner’s expenses.
“Asian Best was a restaurant that my parents started in 2009. When they retired in 2019, my brother and his family took over the family business,” the organizer of the GoFundMe page, Elizabeth Lieu, stated.
“The unfortunate and traumatic events of January 4, 2022, has forced him to close Asian Best for good, as the safety of his family comes first,” Lieu wrote on the GoFundMe page. “In doing so, my brother and his family’s livelihood was taken away. Not only is his family recovering from a tragic event on so many levels, they will now face financial difficulties.”
Rickey Cox Jr., 33, of Manchester, was shot as he attempted to rob the restaurant, located at 15 N. Penn St., according to the York City Police Department.
Cox Jr. died at the scene.

The owners made the original announcement of the business closing on its Facebook page.
“Really sad to see this place close down. The family is so nice and really wonderful people. Wishing them all the best in their next endeavor and, most importantly, safety and peace of mind,” one person commented on the GoFundMe page.
