Best and worst restaurant inspection reports for the week ending Mar. 1, 2022

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action. Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards.

Reasons including person in charge does not demonstrate control over foodborne illness risk factors at time of routine inspection. No observation of hand-washing from establishment employees throughout routine inspection. Raw chicken stored on ground outside of establishment uncovered by walk in cooler. Numerous food and non food contact surfaces dirty throughout establishment. Numerous rodent droppings present on/in food shelves, storage closets, underneath soda fountains, restrooms etc. Rodent droppings present in many areas of establishment. Rodent urine smell present in some areas of establishment. Multiple foods left uncovered in reach in coolers, low boy coolers, and walk in coolers. Multiple dirty rags on counters and shelves.

Reasons including food worker performing cleaning of dishes and then begin prepping a sandwich without washing hands first. Observed numerous foods in the walk-in cooler above 41 degrees. No paper towels at the handsink in the ladies restroom; also observed a paper towel dispenser not operational in the men’s restroom.

Reasons including presence of rodents and pests throughout the facility. Person in charge stated the pests had infested the ceilings and other parts of the building.
