Best restaurants to have Brunch in 7 Northeast Ohio counties based on Yelp restaurant rankings
22 min readCLEVELAND, Ohio — Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but brunch is easily the more anticipated meal of the week — when friends and family gather for a late morning meal. Whether your party prefers lunch food or breakfast food, togetherness has always been the hallmark of brunch.
British author Guy Beringer is credited with coming up with the concept in 1885. He lobbied in an English newspaper article for an alternative to the heavy post-church family meal. He was in favor of a lighter meal served late in the morning, and argued that it “would make life brighter for Saturday night carousers” and suggested that alcoholic drinks be served.
The idea caught on in the United States in the 1930s when Hollywood stars, making cross-country train trips, would take a break from travel in Chicago to enjoy a late-morning meal.
Hotels were quick to jump on the bandwagon since most restaurants were closed on Sundays — and with church attendance lagging after World War II, folks were looking for a social outlet that still allowed them to sleep late on Sundays.
If you are one of those folks who enjoy languishing in bed for a couple extra hours on the weekends, but are looking for a gastronomical experience with friends and family mid-morning, we have you covered. We partnered with our friends at Yelp Cleveland to find where their reviewers said served up the best Brunch menu in Northeast Ohio.
Methodology: This is an all-time list of the top brunch restaurants in the Greater Cleveland area for 2020 according to Yelp Cleveland. Yelp Cleveland identified businesses in the brunch category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews in 2020. This list looked at businesses in the following counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit. We worked directly with Yelp Cleveland on this list to reflect accurate data.

I absolutely enjoyed the Eggs Benedict from this diner it was darn near perfect. The eggs were poached perfectly. The ham and English Muffin were on point and most importantly the Hollandaise sauce was the perfect consistency. This is the best Benedict I have had in a long time, I will definitely be back.
