Franklin woman shares Korean culture to people through food

FRANKLIN, Wis. — Just one Franklin lady is taking her enjoy for Korean food stuff and sharing it with Southeast Wisconsin, just one course at a time.

When you wander into Jenny Lee’s kitchen, you are consumed by soy sauce and spices.

“This reminds me of growing up and it provides me joy,” Lee smiled. “It is really also cultural pleasure.”

Lee was born and lifted in La Crosse, but her moms and dads hardly ever permit her neglect her Korean heritage. Her mother was a master in the kitchen area and sparked Lee’s adore for cooking.

“When I cook dinner Korean foodstuff it reminds me of what I ate growing up, and it reminds me of my loved ones,” Lee explained.

She reported the aroma of the foods she cooks reminds her of her late mother.

Now, she’s using her culinary expertise and her mothers recipes and introducing Korean food items to Milwaukeeans by Perilla Kitchen.

“I take a large amount of pride in introducing my culture to other men and women,” Lee stated.

Since 2019, Lee has long gone all about Milwaukee County instructing individuals how to make Korean dishes like Bool Koogi.

“By training Korean foodstuff and by acquiring men and women prepare dinner it by themselves, they’re finding out so much about a unique cultural,” Lee smiled.

By means of cooking, she’s ready to exhibit cultural satisfaction through Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) month.

“It is a likelihood to clearly show Asian satisfaction, like certainly I am AAPI” Lee smiled.

Lee will be instructing a few classes at the Milwaukee Public Current market this summertime.
