RAMMYS to honor DC area’s best restaurants and chefs at Washington Convention Center

Hearth up these style buds and get ready to honor the ideal D.C.-space cooks and dining places.
The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington hosts the 40th yearly RAMMYS.
“We are quite energized,” President and C.E.O. Kathy Hollinger instructed WTOP. “The RAMMYS have been designed by the Restaurant Affiliation in 1982 as a way to formally honor the region’s restaurants. With this event in its 40th year, the program of class has grown and transformed really in action with the regional sector, so this year’s application carries on that legacy.”
The awards ceremony will be held Sunday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Heart.
“It is a 2,500-person function, black tie,” Hollinger reported. “This is the 1st time we are coming again together in a way that reflects the way we celebrated in 2019. We did have a RAMMYS in 2021, and 2020 that was virtual, but 2022 is the reunion of our industry. … It is vast majority foodstuff-assistance field, but for … foodies or supporters, it is certainly open up to the public.”
Who will compete for the leading prize of Restaurateur of the Calendar year?
“Michael Babin is staying honored from Neighborhood Restaurant Team,” Hollinger stated. “Ashok Bajaj of Knightsbridge Cafe Group … Mark Bucher of Medium Scarce Andrew Dana and Daniela Moreira from Connect with Your Mom, Timber Pizza, Turu’s Pizza and Mercy Me and you have Scott Drewno and Danny Lee from The Fried Rice Collective.”
The penultimate class is Chef of the Calendar year.
“Chef of the 12 months genuinely displays this new crop of leadership listed here in our area,” Hollinger reported. “We have Matt Adler at Caruso’s Grocery … Cedric Maupillier of Convivial, an anchor for lots of many years Shamim Popal from Lapis Michael Rafidi at Albi in the Navy Yard space, which is vibrant and superb … and again Rob Rubba of Oyster Oyster.”
Upstart dining establishments will contend for New Cafe of the Calendar year.
“We have Caruso’s Grocery positioned in Capitol Hill, excellent aged-university Italian delicacies,” Hollinger mentioned. “We’ve got Daru on H Avenue Dauphine’s, a model-new jewel that opened during the pandemic appropriate smack in the middle of downtown we have L’Ardente and Oyster Oyster.”

“Formal good eating has evolved so substantially over the several years in this industry,” Hollinger explained. “We have Cranes, which is correct downtown bordering Penn Quarter we have got Jônt we’ve received Rasika West End, amazing fashionable Indian delicacies we have 1789 Cafe, which for considerably of the pandemic had to rethink how they were serving … then you have Xiquet by Danny Lledó.”
