‘The Food That Made Us’ Brings Free Food Trucks to Brooklyn for Immigrant Heritage Month
2 min readThe annual “The Food That Made Us” Tour kicks off this year on Friday, June 3 in the Bronx and Saturday, June 4, in Brooklyn with free food trucks in both locations, in honor of Immigrant Heritage Month.
Immigrant Heritage Month is a nationwide celebration of immigration held every June with an aim to provide new avenues for individuals and organizations to support immigrants in their communities and workplaces throughout the year.
This year’s celebration is hosted again by the I Stand With Immigrants Initiative. New York City residents will be treated to a weekend of festive food, encouraging them to explore their heritage and celebrate the month with their neighbors.
The two trucks featured include IHM’s traveling food truck serving curated recipes from celebrity chefs – including Joanne Chang, Tom Colicchio, Byron Gomez, Christine Ha, and Hawa Hassan as well as local favorite truck Island Spice Grill. Island Spice Grill also will have a truck on hand with a menu of authentic Caribbean dishes.
At each stop, they’ll share the stories that went into each delicious bite – and the people and cultures behind them.
