Weekend Possibilities | Sporting KC’s Egg Scramble, ‘The J’s’ Junk Food Seder, Pint Path Pub Crawl

Easter egg hunts for everyone, a pub crawl, a movie at Children’s Mercy Park and more offer a full schedule of outdoor fun for April’s second weekend.
Friday, April 8
5 – 8 p.m. The grand opening of Success on The Spectrum is Saturday in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, 520 N.E. Colbert Road, and the organization has plans to celebrate with its first sensory-friendly Autism Play Date. The free event is open to children with autism and will be set up with fun activities like painting and games in a safe and comfortable space.
8 p.m. Composer and lyricist Neil Berg is bringing 50 Years of Rock ‘N’ Roll to Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd., Friday night. The live music storytelling show will cover the history of rock music from early days of the electric guitar in the 1940s all the way through the 1980s. The touring cast includes stars from many of Broadway’s best rock musicals. Tickets are $25.
Saturday, April 9
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The April Showers Craft Fair will be rolling all day Saturday at Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive. Stop by to re-up your arts and crafts arsenal or find inspiration for that next project. Booths set up throughout the space will have plenty to offer, including fine arts materials, wood crafts, jewelry, clothing, fabrics, food, music, books and more. Admission is free.
9:30 – 11:30 p.m. Baby chicks and bunnies petting zoo alert. If you want in on the cuteness, get out to Fat Brain Toys, 5601 W. 135th St, on Saturday morning for its Easter Petting Zoo. After all of the adorable petting, kiddos are invited to hang around and try out many of the Overland Park, Kansas, toy store’s inventory before making a purchase. The Easter Petting Zoo event is free to attend.
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Lemonade Stand — an immersive pop-up experience from Ruby Jean’s Juicery, Halls and The Fresh Factory — is coming to Crown Center, 2450 Grand Blvd. The pop-up will benefit Operation Breakthrough’s Ignition Lab and the theme is “turning lemons into lemonade,” which Ruby Jean’s plans to do quite literally. The local juice spot plans to release four new fresh lemonades under its extension brand “Lightning Lemonade.” The Lemonade Stand clothing and refreshment pop-up is free to attend.
11 a.m. – 8 p.m. The University of Kansas First Nations Student Association will host its annual Powwow and Indigenous Cultures Festival Saturday outside the Lied Center in Lawrence, 1600 Stewart Drive. The full schedule includes plenty of dance and music, Indigenous films, children’s activities, food, drink, art available for purchase and more. The celebration is free to attend.
Noon – 5 p.m. More than 20 breweries, pubs, distilleries and event spaces will open their doors to the Pint Path Pub Crawl Saturday afternoon, happening across North Kansas City. The spy-themed crawl starts at 11:45 a.m. with registration (location to be determined) and will take participants spot to spot solving puzzles and sipping on your drink of choice. The route is walkable. Be sure to check online for more details. General admission is $15.
Sunday, April 10
11 a.m. Sporting Kansas City is inviting the community to Children’s Mercy Park, 1 Sporting Way, for some springtime family fun on a Sunday. The day starts with a free Movies in the Park screening of “Peter Rabbit 2”. Immediately following the movie, kids 12 and under can join an Egg Scramble on the field starting at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the scramble are $20 per child. Bring your own basket!
Noon – 6 p.m. Easter eggs are for everyone, at least according to KC Wine Co. The Olathe, Kansas, winery and vineyard, 13875 S. Gardner Road, is organizing an Adult Egg Hunt for Sunday afternoon and it will be a party. Once your basket is full of colorful eggs filled with boozy surprises, grab a bite from the local Papa Scotts food truck and enjoy a wine slush or hard cider from the bar. The event is open to anyone 21 and older. There is no cost of admission.
4:30 p.m. The Jewish Community Center’s Junk Food Seder is Sunday and all are welcome. Bring the whole family to learn the story of Passover and enjoy a Seder plate full of sweets, snacks and other goodies. Bring a blanket to spread out across the center’s turf field. The event is free to attend.
